Why did you join Stella & Dot?
I was looking for 3 things: A Great Product, A Great Comp Plan and a Hip Approach to Direct Sales, which I passionately love! Stella & Dot fit the bill on all 3 points and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be at the beginning of such a thing!
What personal trait has served you best as a Stella & Dot stylist?
I was once told that I am relentless in getting what I want and was given the nickname 'Relentless Redner'. I take that as a compliment! (And having a sense of humor – you have to laugh daily or you will just take yourself way to seriously.)
What are your top 3 tips for throwing a great Stella & Dot party?
Build a relationship with your hostess. Make her feel special in every way you can (nobody else might be doing that for her!) Compliment her, have fun with her, Help her build a wish list, and talk to her as much as possible in the week(s) before her party.
Get higher priced pieces of jewelry on the guests at the party. When they fall in love with it, they want it. They fall in love with it when they wear it.
Up-sell the Party Perk to every customer by having it at your order taking area. Talk about it during the party and then when they order say 'oh, I almost forgot... did you want to get this great deal' … and then shut up until they answer! If you don't ask, you likely won't sell many. If you ask in that way, it's not like asking – more like reminding in a fun way.
What words of advice do you have for aspiring Stella & Dot stylists?
Have lunch or coffee with somebody every day from now until you hold your first party. Show them the catalogue and get their opinion. Share your enthusiasm. And then simply ask if they would be interested in getting free jewelry to help you get started. The more people you meet with, the more response you will get. And don't stop! Never stop talking to people. There is nothing to lose from doing that and you get to go to Starbucks a lot!

Vintage Memories Holiday! (And the new enameled bangles on the horizon!)

What is your favorite food?
A Better question would be "What isn't my favorite food!" I love food. There is nothing, sadly, that I have ever eaten that I dislike, except liver. And even then, I will eat it if somebody else cooks it and covers it with onions! Sushi and Paella are at the top of my list right now and a Grande, non fat, extra hot, Chai latte from Starbucks on a snowy day…. Actually on any day!
What are your hobbies?
I love to bake – it's therapy! Within an hour you can produce something from nothing which always amazes me! That's satisfying. I have friends who feel the same way about ironing… clearly, I do not understand this sick hobby!
Who has inspired you and how?
Oh, my gosh, everybody inspires me! I basically steal from everybody!
My Dad – Taught me that Attitude is everything and life is beautiful!
My Mom – Taught me that being tough is feminine.
My Husband – teaches me every day what 'selfless' means.
My Daughter – I learned 'patience' the minute she was born and she inspires me to have fun every day, in everything!
My Son – He teaches me to live in the moment. He is the master of that!
Ellen Degeneres – inspires me to laugh! We share a birthday and I just can't get enough of her! To me, she is what life is all about – making people feel a little bit better every day. Someday I will meet her and I will be speechless!
My Grandma – taught me that a little fudge fixes everything!
American Beauty, the movie – This movie seriously impacted me about 10 years ago and reminds me to 'Wake up' to living life every day. LOVE IT!!!! Watch it at least once a year!
What's your most memorable Stella & Dot moment?
The first time I talked to Jessica. I felt like I was talking to a friend – and isn't that what loving your job is all about! I didn't honestly at that point care about the product – I cared that the company cared and that was clearly the case. The beautiful product is a side-benefit to me!
